Filming begins: Our Top Ten 10s come to life!

This week, something special began in homes, supermarkets and hardware aisles across Whakatū Nelson - the filming of our Top 10 Tips video series. Thanks to the generous support of Pub Charity, Oracy Aotearoa is now bringing these tips off the page and into the real, everyday moments where tamariki learn to use their voices.

Our kaupapa has always been simple: confident speakers become confident learners. And confident learners grow from warm, responsive kōrero with the adults who love them. That’s why these videos focus on the places where whānau already spend their time - choosing kai in the supermarket, chatting in the car, reading on the couch, playing in the local park. No scripts, no staged sets; just authentic whānau life.

We’re deeply grateful to the Nelson-based whānau who have opened their homes and routines to use. These pictures above and below show Chris, Maddy, Hana and Sia enjoying the filming session!  

Over the coming months we’ll be filming across the region, gathering real examples of how simple it is to encourage tamariki to talk more. This is just a teaser - a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the mahi underway. Our aim is to launch the full video series by the end of the year, making these tips accessible to whānau, kaiako and communities across Aotearoa. We can’t wait to share more soon. He kōrero iti, he hua nui - small conversations, big impact.
